1.1. Definition: methods used to conduct in-process evaluations of student learning, comprehension, needs and progress and helps teachers identify whether or not they need to adjust instruction

4.1. Definition: Interim- used to evaluate where students are in their learning progress. Benchmark- short tests administered throughout the school year that give teachers immediate feedback on how students are meeting academic standards.

4.1.1. Examples: 1. Math benchmark given at the end of each of the six weeks during the school year 2. Map testing would be a benchmark that shows student progression throughout the year.

5.1. Definition: is a form of testing that requires students to perform a task rather than select an answer from a ready-made list.

6.1. Definition: a form of pre-assessment that allows a teacher to determine students' individual strengths, weaknesses, knowledge, and skills prior to instruction

7. Assessments help teachers by allowing them to gather data to adjust their instruction and to monitor student progress. They also help students show all that they have learned in school for every six weeks or a full year depending on when they take the assessments.
